The glycerine recovery process begins after the oil splitting stage, where glycerine-containing water is generated. For further recovery and purification, the stream passes through several sequential processing stages.
During the pretreatment stage, moisture, mechanical impurities, and unwanted volatile components are removed to prepare the product for further concentration. The glycerine-containing water is then transferred to the evaporation section, where excess water is removed, and the product is concentrated to glycerine feedstock with a concentration above 80%.
To achieve technical or pharmaceutical grade quality, the concentrated product is sent to distillation and bleaching. At this stage, vacuum distillation, purification, and removal of residual color bodies and organic impurities are carried out using activated carbon.
