We offer two types of hydrogenation: continuous and batch.
Both hydrogenations systems achieve targeted saturation of the oleochemical feed. For fully hydrogenated products from larger streams of single type feedstocks, the continuous multi-stage plug flow reactor is recommended. Where multiple feed is used in smaller volume and variable degrees of hydrogenation, the highly efficient loop reactor system will be ideal.
Our expert project teams will assess your current and project needs in terms of raw material, capacity, space and energy to deliver the right unit for your business.
In a continuous hydrogenation system, non-hydrogenated fatty acids are continuously fed into the reactor together with hydrogen. Before entering the process, the feedstock passes through drying and vacuum degassing stages to remove moisture and gases that may affect catalyst activity. A compressor ensures a stable hydrogen supply to the system.
Inside the multi-stage reactor, the double bonds of the fatty acids are gradually saturated. The catalyst circulates within the loop and maintains a high reaction rate. After the process is completed, the mixture passes through a filter where the spent catalyst is separated, while the finished hydrogenated fatty acids are directed for further use or storage.
The continuous process is ideally suited for large volumes of homogeneous feedstock and for the production of fully hydrogenated products with stable quality parameters.
Batch hydrogenation operates by loading separate portions of feedstock into the reactor. Non-hydrogenated fatty acids and catalyst are fed into the reactor, after which the vacuum system removes residual air and moisture. Hydrogen is then introduced into the reactor, and the hydrogenation process begins.
The reactor provides intensive product circulation and efficient contact between hydrogen, catalyst, and fatty acids. The heating and cooling loop maintains the required temperature throughout the entire cycle. A buffer tank helps stabilize the product flow before filtration.
Once the required degree of hydrogenation is achieved, the mixture is sent to a filter where the catalyst is separated from the final product. This type of system is an optimal solution for processing different types of feedstock, smaller production volumes, and varying hydrogenation requirements.
