In the biodiesel production process, a significant portion of the methanol used in the transesterification reaction does not react and remains in the biodiesel, glycerin, and wash water streams. Therefore, the efficient recovery and reuse of methanol is an important part of modern biodiesel production technologies. JJ-Lurgi technology provides an integrated methanol recovery system that allows methanol to be separated from various process streams and returned to the production cycle. Special methanol recovery columns are used, where methanol is evaporated, condensed, and fed back into the transesterification reactors.
Our MethaMAX-Ti column is designed to maximise methanol recovery up to 99.95%. The column bottom is constructed using
high grade titanium, designed to withstand extreme process conditions with low pH and high temperature. The Methamax-Ti single “CATCH-ALL” concept centralizes the methanol recovery system, allowing easy operation and the lowest methanol loss in the market.
