Geelen Counterflow Batch Dryers are semi-automatic systems with medium-to-large capacities, enabling quick adaptation to different products. They provide even moisture distribution, energy-efficient operation, and a reliable design with minimal moving parts. Commonly used in pet food and fish feed production, they are also suitable for any extruded products in large volumes.
Although the overall flow may appear continuous, the product is processed in separate portions (batches) across different levels.
– Evaporation range: From a few hundred to many thousands of liters of moisture per hour.
– Design: These dryers feature between 5 and 15 modular drying levels (decks).
– Temperature zones: Ability to configure up to 7 different temperature zones within a single dryer, allowing for highly precise control of the drying schedule for each product batch.
– Quick Product Changeover: Thanks to the modular structure, you can start drying a new product without waiting for the dryer to be completely empty. This minimizes downtime.
– Belt Distributor: Batch models utilize a specialized PLC-controlled distributor. It creates a perfectly level product layer on each deck. The distribution pattern automatically adjusts based on the batch retention time set by the operator.
– Hygiene and Zero Cross-Contamination: The vertical design (gravity flow) eliminates horizontal surfaces where dust or residues from previous products could accumulate.
The dryer’s design is engineered for 24/7 seamless operation through a combination of engineering simplicity and reliable materials. Utilizing the force of gravity to move the product minimizes the number of moving parts, significantly reducing the risk of mechanical failure. High hygiene and system longevity are ensured by using stainless steel for all key components, including air ducts. Additionally, large inspection doors guarantee quick and safe access to internal elements, greatly simplifying regular cleaning and maintenance.
