To achieve maximum cracking efficiency, the mill is equipped with an advanced feeding mechanism that ensures an even distribution of raw materials across the entire length of the rolls. The roll feeder, featuring a separate drive, works in tandem with an adjustable feed gate, allowing for precise control of the feed rate via manual, pneumatic, or electric actuation. As an alternative, a volumetric rotary pocket feeder with a variable frequency drive is available, providing a positive shutoff function and easy integration into automated load control systems.
Roll protection is a top priority, as tramp iron can damage the working surfaces. Heavy-duty industrial magnets are integrated into the feeder, effectively removing accidental ferromagnetic debris directly from the product stream. To ensure continuous operation, the magnetic block features a convenient swing-out design, allowing the operator to clear collected scrap metal in seconds without stopping the process or dismantling the units.
The robust housing design is a key element of the signature strength of Roskamp Mills, helping to eliminate product quality variation. Front and rear cast and machined pressure members, combined with precision tension elements, reliably contain the roll-separating forces. The rolls are held in position by specialized spring stacks and engineering jack screws, which allow the rolls to instantly bypass uncrushable materials during overloads. This ensures safe passage of foreign objects and protects the rolls and shafts from deformation, maintaining the integrity of the entire machine.
