The purification process begins in a dryer-degasser, where moisture and dissolved gases are removed from raw fatty acids under vacuum to prevent oxidation. The feedstock is then fed into a falling film evaporator, which ensures instantaneous evaporation at moderate temperatures, guaranteeing a high-quality product without off-odors. Inside the distillation column, purified acid vapors rise toward condensers, while undesirable heavy components (residue) collect at the bottom and are discharged from the system. The use of corrosion-resistant materials and heat recovery systems makes this process exceptionally reliable and energy-efficient.
To ensure durability and consistent product quality, the distillation column is constructed from high-grade double-clad steel and titanium, providing robust protection against aggressive chloride corrosion. The column design features specialized internals for precise phase separation: light impurities are diverted through the top circuit to the vacuum system, while the purified distillate is collected as a separate stream. Plant energy autonomy is achieved through an integrated steam generator that utilizes waste stream heat to preheat technical water, significantly reducing operational costs.
By utilizing low-temperature transesterification and energy-efficient heat recovery schemes, JJ-Lurgi equipment ensures consistently high yields that exceed international quality standards. The implementation of closed-loop wash water systems and deep vacuum technology guarantees not only environmental sustainability but also an odorless, colorless product ready for use in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
