JJ-Lurgi offers high-tech solutions for separating fatty acid mixtures into individual components of high purity. Unlike conventional distillation, fractionation enables the production of specific fractions that are critical for the cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and specialty chemicals industries. The use of multi-column configurations ensures precise separation of carbon chains while fully preserving their natural structure.
The process begins with deep degassing of the feedstock in a dryer-degasser, after which the fatty acids sequentially pass through a cascade of fractionation columns (I, II, and III). Each column operates under individual vacuum and temperature regimes, allowing for the step-by-step extraction of specific fatty acids based on their carbon chain length. Thanks to the falling film evaporator system, product heat contact time is minimized, preventing thermal degradation. The entire cascade is integrated into a single vacuum system, ensuring parameter stability at every separation point and high quality of the final distillate.
To achieve maximum purity of individual components, a cascade system consisting of several fractionation columns is utilized. Each column in the chain is configured to isolate a specific fatty acid fraction (Cz, Cy, Cz), providing the flexibility to adapt production to customer specifications. To ensure a long service life under high-temperature conditions, the columns are constructed from high-grade double-clad steel and titanium, providing absolute protection against aggressive chloride corrosion. The use of individual falling film evaporators for each stage minimizes thermal stress on the product, while a unified deep vacuum system ensures precise phase separation and energy stability across the entire cascade.
By utilizing low-temperature transesterification and energy-efficient heat recovery schemes, JJ-Lurgi equipment ensures consistently high yields that exceed international quality standards.
