Our modern continuous oil splitting process offers excellent raw material yield and reduces residue. A splitting degree of up to 99% can be achieved at approximately 55 barg and 250°C in countercurrent flow pattern.
JJ-Lurgi plants are designed for maximum thermal efficiency. The use of economizers and recovery of steam generated by flashing of glycerine water reduce energy consumption, lower cost and improve the overall environmental footprint.
The hydrolytic oil splitting process is designed to separate oils into fatty acids and glycerine-containing water using water, temperature, and pressure. Crude oil is fed by a high-pressure pump into the lower section of the splitting column, while process water enters the top section of the column. The process operates in counter-current mode: water flows downward while the oil moves upward through the internal sections of the column. Under conditions of approximately 250°C and pressures up to 55 bar, triglycerides are split into crude fatty acids and glycerine-containing water. Steam is introduced into the column to maintain the required temperature and stable operating conditions. At the top of the column, the resulting crude fatty acids are directed to further distillation and fractionation. Glycerine-containing water is removed from the bottom section of the column for further concentration and glycerine purification.
