Semi-continuous oil deodorization is an industrial process for the deep purification of vegetable oils, during which volatile substances responsible for specific taste, odor, and color are removed from the product. The process is carried out under vacuum at high temperatures by sequentially treating the oil with live steam. The main difference of the semi-continuous method is that the stages of heating, actual deodorization, and oil cooling occur cyclically (in batches) within separate automated sections of a single apparatus. This ensures higher product quality compared to the batch method and offers greater operational flexibility than fully continuous lines.
