Re-esterification / Glycerolysis

Re-esterification (glycerolysis) is an important process step for increasing the overall biodiesel yield. During this process, free fatty acids removed during oil pretreatment react with glycerine to form mono-, di-, and triglycerides, which are returned to the main transesterification process. This approach maximizes feedstock utilization, reduces losses of valuable components, and improves the overall economics of biodiesel production. JJ-Lurgi technology enables the efficient recycling of free fatty acids back into the production cycle and contributes to a high degree of feedstock conversion.
